Military Heroes.....

Today there is a fundraising event to raise money for the Veteran's Wall of Valor in downtown Bakersfield (my hometown). It will honor local fallen heroes. I find that it is so important that these brave men and women never be forgotten. I once was a military wife and met many people who served our country. Thankfully those we knew well always made it back home safely after a deployment. Not a day goes by that I don't think about all the soldiers who are currently deployed and defending our country. And their families should not be overlooked either. Military families may not be deployed, but their hearts are. They are our country's silent heroes. So as we continue to live our busy and hectic lives, take a minute to think about all the sacrifices soldiers and their families have made for our country.

Valentine's Day.....

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and also my mom's birthday. I think the last time I was truly excited about Valentine's Day was in high school. I believe we shouldn't wait for a holiday to arrive to tell someone how much we care and love them. Say it now, today. Of course it is always nice to celebrate a holiday, nothing wrong with that. But as far as showing someone your love, do it today, and everyday! We don't know how much time time we have on earth, so don't wait to express your feelings. I always appreciate to be shown appreciation and love on a random day when it's least expected. I think that is what makes it even more loving and thoughtful.
So tomorrow I will celebrate Valentine's Day, as I do every year. But I won't forget to show my love for the people I love, everyday of the year.

My first blog....

So I was convinced today, by my brother and his girlfriend, to start a blog. So here I am. It should be fun. I always have something on my mind and usually write it in my journal. I plan to use this blog mainly to share things that inspire me. Sometimes I see things on television that inspire me, or I hear stories that give me a new perspective on life. I want to share these thoughts with others and hopefully I can inspire others with this blog. Enjoy!
